Electrek’s Take

As I mentioned before, I appreciate Tesla’s efforts to create a self-driving vehicle. This is a difficult task, but I believe many things make sense in Tesla’s approach to creating a self-driving system that uses computer vision and artificial Intelligence.

But, I believe there are many problems with the way Tesla promoted the system using timelines Musk hyped up at every opportunity, even though they have been incorrect several times.

He has at least admitted that it was difficult to predict self-driving solutions and that he may be wrong again. However, it does not stop him from making new predictions.

It’s now or never.

How much does a self-driving tesla cost?

Tesla raises the Full Self-Driving Price to $15,000 – Is it worth it?

Tesla officially increased the price for its Full Self-Driving (FSD), as promised by Elon Musk.

Is it worth $15,000

Musk has been stating for years that Tesla would continue to increase the price of its Full Self-Driving package (FSD) as functionality improves, leading to the final form of Tesla’s product, which is, as the name implies, the ability to drive independently fully.

The feature has yet to live up to its potential so far. Although it has been in beta for over two years, it is far from self-driving.

The system can technically activate and attempt to drive in most areas. However, it is up to the driver to pay attention and take control.

Many people consider that the first step towards self-driving technology is to be willing to accept responsibility.

Tesla has made it very clear that they are not yet there. Participating in FSD Beta comes with several warnings that remind the driver that the driver is still responsible.

Tesla considers each FSD update a step closer to the goal and believes some updates are worth increasing the package price.

Musk stated last month that Tesla’s wider rollout of FSD Beta 10.69 would cause the package to go up in price from $12,000 to $15,000.

Today, Tesla updated their online configurator in response to the change.

The FSD package costs $3,000 more, but it has a few more features. However, Autosteer on City Streets, which is currently in invite-only beta, is slightly better.
